A successful days racing was had by all in Luxborough on Monday 5th May 2008.
Fair weather during the May Bank Holiday brought out the punters for
the annual Duck Races.
Crowds of people descended on the pretty village of Luxborough on
the Coleridge Way for the May Fair and Duck Races.
People travelled from as far as Tiverton to join the fun.
Pat McGlynn & Clare Pound had their work cut out to keep up with the demand for duck ownership before the start of each race.
The Bouncy Castle and Skittles were as popular as ever. Inside the hall the stalls laden with cakes, pies, jams, plants and books and all stalls did a roaring trade.
One of the highlights this year was a demonstration by The
Somerset Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers who showed children
how to make pretty friendship bracelets.
Heathers
Jewells, a member of Minehead Producers, was another another new
feature of the Fair this year. This stall provided a
bright and cheerful display of quality jewellery at very
reasonable prices.
The outcome was a good afternoon of entertainment which resulted in
several hundred pounds being raised for the upkeep of the Village Hall
and the Church.
